The head of the broadcasting organization says the statements of religious experts on television are not our responsibility
The head of the broadcasting organization states that the responsibility for the statements of guests or religious experts does not lie with the broadcasting organization, but rather with the individual who made the statement or stance.
Peyman Jebelli mentioned that naturally, there are specialized think tanks within our various networks, and the issues related to the guests who are invited, including their level and expertise and other characteristics, are reviewed.
In response to the question of why proper oversight to prevent inaccurate statements in religious programs has not been implemented, he said that a significant portion of the broadcasting organization’s programs are live, and controlling the statements of guests in live programs is not an easy task. Our duty is to firstly ensure the necessary diligence in selecting experts and guests and those who are invited, and to consider and pay attention to the aspects that need review and reconsideration in the selection of guests and experts.
Jebelli stated that the next point is that we must clarify the national media’s responsibility regarding the statements or stances expressed in the speech of guests and experts and remind that the responsibility does not lie with the broadcasting organization but with the individual who made the statement or stance.
