The Head of Canadian Security Intelligence Agency Says Deadly Threats by the Islamic Republic Against Opponents in Canada Were Neutralized

The head of Canada’s intelligence agency announced that deadly threats by the Islamic Republic against dissidents in Canada were thwarted.

Dan Rogers, the head of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), announced in a rare speech on Thursday, November 12, that his organization has thwarted potential deadly threats by the Islamic Republic of Iran this year against individuals whom Tehran considers as enemies.

Dan Rogers, who was appointed in February, was speaking while presenting his annual report on Canada’s security challenges.

For the first time, he confirmed that the agency has intervened to protect critics residing in Canada who have been targeted by the Islamic Republic.

Rogers said that in alarming instances over the past year, we had to prioritize our operations to counter the actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s intelligence services and their proxies, who had targeted individuals as threats to their regime.

Without providing details, he added that on more than one occasion, this included detecting, investigating, and disrupting potential deadly threats against individuals in Canada.

Rogers also announced that agents of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service have blocked Russia’s efforts to illegally acquire Canadian goods and technologies.
