The Head of IRIB: We Fulfilled Our Commitments Regarding Broadcasting Rights

The head of the Broadcasting Organization: We have fulfilled our commitments regarding broadcast rights

Peyman Jebelli: In past years, we have acted according to the law and our obligations. We have deposited the amount required by law for broadcasting competitions and commercials into the government’s treasury. However, 70% of that amount was supposed to be returned to us, but it seems to me that it didn’t even reach 30%.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Sports has not fulfilled its obligation due to challenges in identifying and depositing the revenues from broadcasting competitions according to the budget law.

We are ready to reach a conclusion on this matter with the Ministry of Sports and the Cultural Commission of the Parliament and the government. We have also proven that the Broadcasting Organization is ready to fulfill its duty.

In fact, the plan was for amounts from these two sections to be deposited into the government’s treasury, with 70% allocated to us and 30% to the federations. Since this has been done incompletely, this issue has not been resolved.
