The Head of the Cattle Farmers' Association: Beef Priced Above 470,000 Tomans is Unfair to Consumers

The head of the Cattle Farmers’ Association says selling meat at prices higher than 470,000 tomans is unfair to consumers.

The head of the Cattle Farmers’ Association states that the current price of each kilogram of veal is 200,000 tomans, and offering each kilogram of meat at prices higher than 470,000 tomans is an injustice to consumers.

According to the Young Journalists Club, Ahmad Maqdesi has said that instead of paying subsidies to foreign producers through excessive meat imports, the government should provide subsidies to domestic producers, which would balance the market.

He stated that the solution to regulating the meat market is to make production economical, and while temporary meat imports can stabilize the market, they are not a fundamental solution.

Mr. Maqdesi mentioned that, according to statistics, there is the capacity to produce over one million tons of red meat in the country, and excessive meat imports would lead to the destruction of domestic production.

Based on reports from Iranian media, the price of red meat has been on the rise in recent weeks, and the prices announced by official authorities do not match market prices.
