The head of the Food and Drug Administration announced that the gradual removal of preferential currency for medicine has begun and is ongoing.
Mehdi Pirsalehi, the head of the Food and Drug Administration, confirmed that the gradual removal of preferential currency for medicine started at the beginning of the year and this process will continue.
He stated that the complete removal of preferential currency is not on the agenda for this year, but for some medicines, including insulin, the preferential currency for manufactured drugs has been reduced.
According to Pirsalehi, part of the preferential currency has been removed in coordination with the Planning and Budget Organization and the Central Bank.
These statements come amid reports of a significant increase in the prices of some commonly used medicines. The Food and Drug Administration has announced the official rate of medicine price increase for this year as 48 percent.
