The head of the judiciary said that direct confrontation with Bank Ayandeh had many costs
Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic, claimed on Friday, November 13, that mere involvement of the judiciary in the Bank Ayandeh case and arresting its managers would have caused more damage
Ejei, in a meeting with members of the Supreme Council of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, further added that the judiciary could have resorted to force from the very beginning in the Bank Ayandeh case and made arrests, but it must be noted that adopting such an approach would have imposed many costs. Our policy and strategy is to manage affairs in a way that minimizes costs. Of course, regarding the bank issue, those who were negligent or at fault will be dealt with, and this matter is under investigation
These claims are being made while, according to the head of the Parliamentary Monetary, Currency, and Banking Committee, just a few days before the dissolution of Bank Ayandeh, over 40 trillion tomans were withdrawn from its resources, and the violations of Bank Ayandeh have been responsible for about 6 to 7 percent of Iran’s annual inflation
