The Head of the Tax Administration: We Also Tax Instagram Pages

Head of the Tax Affairs Organization: We will also tax Instagram pages

The head of the country’s Tax Affairs Organization said, ‘We have expanded the tax collection umbrella and will collect taxes from all income generated through virtual activities.’

Sobhaniyan stated that some celebrities earn income through their pages and the advertisements they conduct, such that some of them have over 10 to 15 billion tomans deposited annually. These individuals might provide documentation to clarify the source of income, which may, according to the law, not be subject to taxation.

Sobhaniyan added, ‘We are expanding the tax collection umbrella and will evaluate individuals active in the virtual space accordingly.’
