The Increase in Baby Formula Prices Continues Despite Restrictions

The increase in the price of baby formula continues despite the restrictions.

Since April 2023 in Iran, baby formula is sold only with a national ID card and for infants under two years old. However, according to reports, the shortage and price increase of baby formula continue despite these restrictions.

Khabar Online, in a report about the current situation of baby formula, quotes a father who came from a village to the city to find baby formula and visited 10 different pharmacies, none of which had the formula.

A pharmacy manager also told Khabar Online that the cost of baby formula has increased by 40%. Iranian formulas such as Aptamil, Nan, and Bebelac have risen from 40 to 50 thousand tomans to 70 to 80 thousand tomans.

According to this pharmacy manager, the price growth of foreign baby formulas has been even higher, with prices multiplying over this period. Imported formulas are available in pharmacies, but their prices are high, and people cannot afford them. The price of Beba Junior formula was 170 thousand tomans and is now 780 thousand tomans. Resource Junior formula was 80 thousand tomans and is now 400 thousand tomans.
