The International Atomic Energy Agency: Iran has increased its enriched uranium reserves

The International Atomic Energy Agency reports that Iran has increased its stockpile of enriched uranium.

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran has increased its uranium stockpile in the past three months to the threshold needed for producing nuclear weapons.

As reported by agency officials on Monday, May 27th, in Vienna, the Islamic Republic possesses about 142 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%, which is approximately 21 kilograms more than in February.

Experts say that about 50 kilograms of this material is needed to build a nuclear warhead, and this uranium must be further enriched to 90% for military use.

The leadership of the Islamic Republic denies pursuing nuclear weapons, but Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, on Monday, May 27th, referenced statements by Iranian officials about a possible change in this doctrine and Iran’s existing technical capabilities to build such weapons.
