The judiciary has not revoked the death sentence of Hamid Ghareh Hassanlou.
According to Iranian media, the judiciary stated in a statement that up to this moment, a final verdict has not yet been issued, and the case of the defendants is under review in the Supreme Court and is following its judicial and natural course. Therefore, correspondence on this matter is not relevant.
The Etemad newspaper reported that following a letter of request from a political figure to the high-ranking officials of the regime, this sentence had been revoked.
Dr. Hamid Ghareh Hassanlou, a 53-year-old physician, is one of five people sentenced to death for allegedly killing a Basij member. His wife has also been sentenced to 25 years of exile.
