The Kavvan Music Festival in Qeshm was canceled on the opening night.
The Kavvan Music Festival in Qeshm was canceled just a few hours before its opening by the order of provincial and local authorities in Hormozgan.
Bahman Babazadeh, a music journalist, wrote on Aks that on Friday, October 16, police officers entered the festival venue four hours before the performances were to begin, dismantled the stage’s sound system, and removed the equipment from the area.
According to him, the officers acted on orders from the provincial and local authorities, and the organizers’ efforts to resolve the issue with the Ministry of Culture were unsuccessful, resulting in the festival not taking place on its first night.
Babazadeh added that despite having the necessary permits from the Qeshm Free Zone, the conflict between the agencies and supervisory bodies led to the cancellation of the festival.
The festival was supposed to feature performances by more than 30 music groups starting from October 16 for seven nights.
