The leader of the Islamic Republic issued permission for an understanding with the US despite having a different opinion.
On Thursday night, Iranian media published a text as the reaction of Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, to the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US. In this message, it is stated that he ultimately agreed to this agreement despite having a different viewpoint.
In this message, it is stated: ‘In principle, I had a different opinion, but due to the commitment that the honorable President, as the head of the Supreme National Security Council, gave to me on behalf of himself and other members in safeguarding the rights of the Iranian nation and the resistance front, and by explicitly accepting responsibility for it, I issued the permission.’
In this message, the leader of the Islamic Republic also wrote that Masoud Pezeshkian assured him that if the American side becomes excessive in its demands, Iran will not retreat from its positions.
In another part of this message, he emphasized that from this moment, we, meaning the proud nation and this humble servant, will be waiting for the fulfillment of the stated conditions.
He also referred to the potential direct negotiations between Iranian and American officials and wrote that the in-person negotiations that will be established in the future will not mean accepting the enemy’s opinion.
This message was published under circumstances where the recent memorandum between Tehran and Washington has paved the way for continued negotiations to reach a final agreement.
