The Leader of the Islamic Republic: Distance learning has harmed the education system

Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Republic, stated that students must attend school in person, and virtual and distance learning has disrupted the education process.

Mr. Khamenei, during a Teacher’s Day meeting with a group of educators, said:

This issue of the coronavirus and virtual and distance learning has really caused disruption in the education system. We might say that with virtual platforms and video communication and such, lessons can be taught, but students need more than just learning and listening to lessons; they need to be present in an educational environment. They need to be among their peers, which creates synergy. This is very important. Efforts should be made to ensure that students attend school. The school has significance.

He also emphasized strengthening the role of public schools.
