The Artery of the Pāydāri Coup Against Raisi
The Artery of the Pāydāri Coup Against Raisi: According to Iran Gate, the Strategic Network of the Friends of the Islamic Revolution, known as the Artery Party, has raised suspicions six months before the twelfth parliamentary elections that the super-revolutionaries are making a major move to seize parliamentary seats.
In the first part of the dossier on the Artery of the Pāydāri Coup Against Raisi, the focus was on understanding the Strategic Network of the Friends of the Islamic Revolution, known as Artery.
In this report, which is the second part of this dossier, the goals of the Pāydāri movement and the reason for establishing the Artery Party are analyzed. The party’s establishment on the first of Mordad 1402 [July 23, 2023] was seen by many analysts as a starting point for political rivalry between hardline, moderate conservatives, and Pāydāri supporters. This rivalry, which has intensified existing differences and deepened rifts within the ruling faction, seems to be heating up as the parliamentary elections approach.
All Roads Lead to Baharestan
A look at the composition of the Artery’s central council reminds the audience that the vast majority of members have been selected from among former parliament and city council representatives in Tehran and other cities. These representatives have carried the flag of the country’s most radical conservative movement, the Pāydāri Front, at various times and have recorded radical performances.
Among the 31 members of the central council of the Strategic Network of the Friends of the Islamic Revolution and 9 alternate members, all have been selected from among parliament and city council representatives. In the presence of Mehrdad Bazrpash, Amirhossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi, and 450 radical conservative figures, the existence of the Artery electoral party was announced on the first of Mordad 1402 [July 23, 2023].
It is for this reason that it is said that this party is essentially an organization established for the cohesive presence of the Pāydāri Front in the elections of Esfand 1402 [March 2024]. Statements from the central council of this party, despite denying any intention to play a role in the elections, clearly show how this newly established party views the upcoming electoral competitions.
Mahsuli, the Wealthy Godfather
In recent days, statements from traditional conservative figures have been published in the media, attacking Sadeq Mahsuli’s positions harshly. Among the most notable of these statements is an interview with Hossein Kanaani Moghadam, the Secretary-General of the Green Party of Iran and a well-known conservative figure. In this interview, published on Tuesday, he emphasized that Mahsuli has extensive financial resources and can support the Pāydāri Front and its subsidiary parties by relying on these resources.
Kanaani Moghadam explains in this interview that certainly, the party organization led by Mahsuli will use its financial capabilities, which is considered natural. In fact, Mahsuli has influence in the parliament, and many of those currently in parliament are supported by the Pāydāri.
On the other hand, Mahsuli has recently taken strong positions against Qalibaf and Ebrahim Raisi, which according to many analysts, is a signal from Mahsuli to parties and political movements like Artery to prepare for a serious confrontation with the government and the dominant faction in Baharestan.
The Coup Against Raisi and Qalibaf
The Secretary-General of the Pāydāri Front recently made harsh remarks against conservatives at the end-of-term meeting of the Office for Strengthening Unity. In his few minutes of speech, he issued serious warnings to Ebrahim Raisi’s government and criticized the current state of parliament with insinuations towards Qalibaf. He did not spare moderate conservatives like Ali Larijani, and considering the potential presence of close associates of the former Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly in the upcoming elections, he tried to intimidate his rivals.
However, as mentioned, the main target of Mahsuli and the Pāydāri Front is attacking the government of Ebrahim Raisi and also Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf. This movement, which implicitly seeks to establish an Islamic government instead of the Islamic Republic, considers any political maneuvering to stabilize the normal situation in the Islamic Republic as treason and labels conservatives of this kind as traitors.
In recent speeches, Mahsuli has also explicitly addressed the twelfth parliamentary elections and repeatedly used keywords like ‘choosing the best,’ which were heard from the mouth of Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah Yazdi, the spiritual father of the Pāydāri, and later repeated by Mahsuli and many managers in Ahmadinejad’s government. These keywords have now become the code name for the Pāydāri Front for a strong and powerful presence in the elections of Esfand 1402 [March 2024].
Therefore, it can be concluded that the Artery Party is an example of the Pāydāri’s efforts to seize parliamentary seats, an effort that will only be possible with the cooperation and support of the Guardian Council. However, there are murmurs of a will within this supervisory body to disqualify prominent Pāydāri figures, murmurs that, given the recent remarks by Haddad Adel, have strengthened the possibility of becoming serious, and perhaps it is out of fear of these possibilities that Mahsuli has rolled up his sleeves and entered the field.
