The mayor of Tehran has undertaken a significant proactive action in the subway.
Simultaneously with the release of images showing curtains being installed between women’s and men’s carriages in the Tehran subway, Alireza Zakani stated in the capital’s city council that the municipality has taken significant proactive measures regarding hijab by forming a security unit and using volunteer groups in 70 subway stations.
In a video of Alireza Zakani’s statements in the capital’s city council, he says that we started proactive work on the hijab issue in subway stations 5 months ago, and we have undertaken significant proactive measures regarding hijab in 70 subway stations.
Mr. Zakani explained how the significant proactive work related to enforcing compulsory hijab in subway stations was carried out, saying that volunteer groups came, our friends came, and we formed a security unit, which had been approved since 2017 but had not been implemented, yet we established it.
In part of the meeting between the mayor of Tehran and the city council, Zakani said about women’s refusal to wear hijab that this is an action by the enemy that has a 12-year history, and they have been working on this issue.
