The bill for holding legal gatherings is under review in Parliament, says the Minister of Interior.
Ahmad Vahidi, the Minister of Interior, stated that if the bill for holding legal gatherings is approved in Parliament, locations for gatherings will be designated according to the size of the cities.
Regarding the submission of the bill for holding legal gatherings to Parliament and its impact on organizing gatherings, he expressed that in this bill, we have anticipated that different areas will be designated for gatherings according to the population of the cities. We can wait for the law to be approved, but for its implementation, we also need to prepare guidelines, which is not an issue. If the bill is approved, we must designate locations for gatherings.
He emphasized regarding the criticism from some political factions that the Ministry of Interior does not grant them permits for gatherings, saying that this statement is not accurate. We only had one or two requests during recent incidents, where we clearly stated that the safety of the participants must be ensured, and during times of unrest, gatherings might turn into riots.
This stance of the Ministry of Interior was specific to that particular period. Additionally, the applicants’ legal activities were suspended due to not holding their assemblies.
