The Ministry of Roads: A Private Haven for Rostam Ghasemi and Friends

The Ministry of Roads, Rustom Qasemi and Friends’ Backyard

The Ministry of Roads has become the backyard of Rustom Qasemi and friends, while Iran Gate, by publishing credible documents for the first time, reported the arrest of Qasem Makarem Shirazi, advisor and special inspector to Rustom Qasemi, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development. At the same time, the presence of security oversight bodies in this ministry has increased to uncover and prevent financial corruption.

According to news received from reliable sources, Iran Gate reports that after the arrest of Qasem Makarem, Iman Islamiyan, Deputy for Management Development and Human Resources appointed by Rustom Qasemi in the ministry, has been summoned to security authorities and interrogated.

It seems that Islamiyan is not allowed to leave Tehran until the investigations are complete. However, recently, documents have reached the Iran Gate editorial office that indicate administrative violations in the appointment of Iman Islamiyan.

According to these documents, which Iran Gate will publish, while Islamiyan was appointed as Deputy Minister of Roads on 1400/10/01 (Persian calendar), his employment relationship with the ministry was confirmed by the central selection committee with a specific employment contract type on 1401/06/21.

The order of hiring and issuing the decree was not followed. Also, it seems that Rustom Qasemi has been seeking to obtain an employment code for Islamiyan in recent weeks to officially classify him among government employees.

Some speculations suggest that this action is intended to create a type of legal immunity for Islamiyan because if a legal case is formed against him and referred to the court by security officials, if Islamiyan is an official government employee, his case will be referred to the government employees’ court, and the possibility of influence by his main supporter, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, may be facilitated.

Now, we must wait for the results of the investigations and reviews regarding the widespread violations in this important ministry to be determined so that the serious intention to combat corruption in Raisi’s government can be seriously tested.
