The Ministry of Roads as Rostam Ghasemi and Friends' Private Backyard

The Ministry of Roads, the Private Backyard of Rostam Ghasemi and Friends

The Ministry of Roads has become the private backyard of Rostam Ghasemi and friends, while Iran Gate, by publishing credible documents for the first time, reported the arrest of Ghasem Makarem Shirazi, advisor and special inspector to Rostam Ghasemi, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development. Simultaneously, the presence of security oversight bodies in this ministry has increased to detect and prevent financial corruption.

According to news received from reliable sources by Iran Gate, after the arrest of Ghasem Makarem, Iman Eslamian, the Deputy of Management Development and Human Resources appointed by Rostam Ghasemi in the ministry, has been summoned to security authorities and interrogated.

It seems Eslamian is not allowed to leave Tehran until the end of the investigations. However, recently, documents have reached the Iran Gate editorial office indicating administrative violations in the appointment of Iman Eslamian.

According to these documents, which Iran Gate will publish, Eslamian was appointed as Deputy Minister of Roads on 1400/10/01, while his employment relationship with the ministry was confirmed on 1401/06/21 with a specific contract type by the central selection committee.

The order of employment and issuance of the decree was not followed. Additionally, it seems Rostam Ghasemi has been seeking to obtain an employment code for Eslamian in recent weeks to officially classify him among government employees.

Some speculate that this move is intended to provide a kind of legal immunity for Eslamian, because if a legal case is formed against him and referred to court by security officers, if Eslamian is an official government employee, his case will be referred to the government employees’ court, potentially allowing his main supporter, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, to exert influence.

Now we must wait for the results of the investigations and reviews regarding the extensive violations in this important ministry to see if the slogan of a serious will to combat corruption in Raisi’s government stands up to a serious test.
