The Iraqi Prime Minister’s office denied reports of conveying a U.S. ceasefire proposal to Iran
The Iraqi Prime Minister’s office refuted the New York Times report claiming that the Prime Minister of Iraq conveyed a U.S. ceasefire proposal to Iran, calling it completely baseless and unrelated to reality.
In a statement from the Iraqi Prime Minister’s media office, it was stated that the claim about conveying this proposal during the Prime Minister’s visit to Tehran is not true.
The New York Times had earlier reported, citing Iranian and Iraqi officials, that Iran rejected Donald Trump’s ceasefire proposal, which was conveyed to Tehran through the Iraqi Prime Minister. According to the newspaper, Iranian officials said Tehran is not interested in a temporary agreement that leaves the situation in the Strait of Hormuz unresolved.
The Iraqi Prime Minister’s office only denied the claim about conveying this proposal and did not comment on whether such a proposal from the U.S. exists or not.
