The Minister of Oil stated that the fuel cards specific to gas stations will soon be invalidated.
The Iranian Minister of Oil has announced that the fuel cards specific to gas stations will soon be invalidated, and purchasing gasoline and diesel will only be possible with a personal card specific to each vehicle.
Javad Owji told reporters that according to the 1403 budget law, the Ministry of Oil is obligated to ensure that 95% of fuel purchases are made through personal cards.
However, Mr. Owji added that people have not yet taken the fuel card seriously, and the Ministry of Oil has instructed that during the Nowruz holidays, gas stations should have enough station-specific fuel cards to prevent any issues.
The Minister of Oil emphasized that after the Nowruz holidays, there will be a one-week to ten-day period of information dissemination on this matter, after which the law will be implemented.
Nevertheless, simultaneously with the Minister of Oil’s statements, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said that emergency cards will still be available at the stations, and the requirement for maximum use of personal fuel cards does not mean the complete removal of station-specific fuel cards.
