The Prime Minister of Pakistan says the ultimate goal of peace is near; give diplomacy a chance
Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, called on all parties involved in the Middle East to exercise restraint and give more opportunity to the diplomatic process.
In a message on the social media platform X, he wrote that the recent escalation of tensions in the region highlights the fragility of ceasefires and the heavy consequences of their collapse.
Sharif added that while we, along with our brothers and partners, strive to achieve a peaceful and diplomatic solution, especially now that the ultimate goal is almost within reach, we sincerely urge all parties to exercise restraint and give peace more of a chance.
In recent weeks, Pakistan has played a key role in mediating between Iran and the United States.
Mohsin Naqvi, the Interior Minister of Pakistan, traveled to Tehran on Saturday to deliver a special message from Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, to senior Iranian officials. This visit coincided with Islamabad’s intensive efforts to advance negotiations and stabilize the ceasefire in the region.
