The role of Chinese cars is very prominent in the import liberalization plan, says the head of the Traffic Police.
Kamal Hadianfar, the head of Iran’s Traffic Police, has announced the significant role of Chinese cars in the plan to liberalize car imports to Iran and has stated that the reason for the limited variety of cars is the sanctions.
He has said that due to the sanctions, the majority of imported cars in this plan are supplied through Chinese manufacturing companies.
Mr. Hadianfar has also mentioned that this issue pertains to new cars, and the regulations for importing used cars have not yet been finalized by the Cabinet of Ministers, and the order registration system has not been opened.
He also stated that no cars have yet been imported into Iran under the new foreign car import liberalization plan.
According to what has been said, some imported shipments to Iran are stuck at customs, and for some shipments, only the order registration has been completed.
Previously, Mehdi Zighami, the head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, had said that for now, the supply of imported cars will be limited to the cars already available in Iran.
