The Sports Ministry News Agency: Mehdi Ghaedi's Return to Esteghlal is Not Possible

The Ministry of Sports News Agency says Mehdi Ghaedi’s return to Esteghlal is not possible.

Borana News Agency, the official news agency of the Ministry of Sports, wrote that the return of the national team star to Esteghlal is not possible under the current circumstances.

Farhad Majidi, the former head coach of Esteghlal, officially parted ways with Al-Ittihad Kalba, and following this separation, many rumors are circulating about Ghaedi’s departure from the team as well. This departure might happen, but the discussion of Ghaedi’s return to Esteghlal is currently off the table.

According to the rules, Ghaedi is under contract with Al-Ittihad Kalba and did not terminate his contract during the transfer window to join Esteghlal as a free agent. Esteghlal’s roster is also full, and no spot was vacated during the transfer window, resulting in Reza Mirzaei being removed from the list. After the winter transfer window closes, it is not possible to clear a spot on the list.

On the other hand, Ghaedi is considered a foreign player according to the rules, but Al-Ittihad Kalba is not among the top 3 teams and does not meet the minimum requirements needed for the Iranian league.

As a result, the return of the ‘Atomic Ant’ to Esteghlal is currently off the table, and we have to see what happens at the end of the season and during the summer transfer window.
