The leader of the Islamic Republic emphasized my firm recommendation for constructive interaction between the Parliament and the new government.
Ayatollah Khamenei, in a meeting with Parliament members, which included Masoud Pezeshkian, the winner of the fourteenth presidential election, said my firm recommendation is for constructive interaction between the Parliament and the new government.
The leader of the Iranian government told the members of the twelfth Parliament that they must believe wholeheartedly that the victory and success of the elected president in running the country is a victory for all of us.
During this speech, Iranian media paid special attention to the image of Masoud Pezeshkian and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf sitting next to each other in the front row of the audience addressed by the Iranian leader.
Mr. Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Parliament, was a rival to Mr. Pezeshkian in the first round of the recent presidential election and supported Saeed Jalili, Mr. Pezeshkian’s rival, in the second round.
The twelfth Parliament will soon have to vote on the confidence for Mr. Pezeshkian’s proposed ministers.
The leader of the Islamic Republic continued his speech by saying the immediate task for the Parliament is to vote on the cabinet that Mr. Pezeshkian will present to the Parliament. This is your urgent task, representatives, to approve the proposed cabinet as soon as possible after the necessary steps are taken, so the government can start working, which is better for the country.
He added that the individuals selected for the government must wholeheartedly believe in the Islamic Republic system, have a national perspective, and not get caught up in political and factional issues.
