The Supreme National Security Council conditioned the provision of stable internet to businesses
Reza Alizadeh, the head of the Islamic Consultative Assembly’s Commission on Industries and Mines, explained in his conversation today with the Jamaran news site about the Supreme National Security Council’s resolution for stable internet for businesses. He stated that any decision regarding the extent or limitation of access to international internet is the responsibility of security bodies, with the Supreme National Security Council at the forefront. He further added that gradually, access will be given to registered production units, taking into account security considerations. He continued, saying that currently, access to stable international internet has been provided to holders of commercial cards. He added that in the second phase, access to international internet has been given to organizations and entities related to the fields of production, industry, and commerce, with security considerations in mind.
While 51 days have passed since the complete cut-off of international internet for ordinary people in the country, the parliament representative’s explanations made no mention of the public’s access to the internet being restored.
Access to the internet in today’s world is among the rights related to freedom of expression, a right that has been taken away from the people in Iran under the vague explanation of security issues.
