The Supreme National Security Council: Passing through the Strait of Hormuz is free for 60 days
The Supreme National Security Council of Iran explained the details of implementing the fifth clause of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding in a statement, announcing that commercial ships wishing to pass through the Strait of Hormuz must submit their requests to the Gulf Waterway Management.
According to this statement, based on the provisions of the Islamabad Memorandum, no charges will be collected from the ships applying to pass for the next 60 days, and all related costs will be covered by the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Supreme National Security Council also announced that the Gulf Waterway Management has been instructed to review and respond to passage requests quickly and with priority to achieve the goals set in the memorandum.
The statement emphasized the special conditions of the region and the presence of certain safety risks, stating that ships must travel according to the announced routes and schedules to prevent maritime incidents and to enable a gradual increase in traffic volume.
According to the Supreme National Security Council, technical details and the execution arrangements for passing through the Strait of Hormuz will be communicated through the Gulf Waterway Management.
This body also announced that other commitments anticipated in the fifth clause of the Islamabad Memorandum, including demining operations, will be pursued in accordance with the terms of the agreement.
