The thirst of Tehran’s dams continues
The total volume of the reservoirs of Tehran province’s dams is currently 225 million cubic meters, whereas this amount was 310 million cubic meters last year.
Currently, the water volume in the Amir Kabir Dam reservoir is about 19 million cubic meters, compared to 35 million cubic meters on the same day last year. Additionally, the water storage volume of the Taleqan Dam has decreased from 178 million cubic meters last year to 140 million cubic meters.
The water storage volume of the Lar Dam was 113 million cubic meters last year, which, compared to the current 111 million cubic meters, shows a decrease of 2 million cubic meters. The water volume of the Mamloo Dam has also decreased from 68 million cubic meters last year to 44 million cubic meters. Meanwhile, the water storage of the Latyan Dam has decreased by 6 million cubic meters compared to the same day last year, reaching 11 million cubic meters.
The amount of rainfall recorded since the beginning of the water year is 1035 millimeters, while it was 1177 millimeters last year. Thus, the amount of rainfall has decreased by 121 percent compared to the previous water year and by 289 percent compared to the long-term average.
