The UK Government Addressed the Backlog of Asylum Applications

The UK government has addressed the backlog of asylum cases.

The UK government has stated that it has fulfilled Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s promise to process and announce decisions on a large number of pending asylum applications.

Currently, tens of thousands of asylum seekers are caught in the bureaucratic maze responsible for handling them, and applicants are still waiting for a preliminary decision on their status.

The UK Home Office has said that the status of all old pending cases has been determined.

This refers to cases dated before June 2022.

Critics of the government, including some members of the ruling Conservative Party, say that the figures provided by government officials are inaccurate.

Mr. Sunak had pledged to resolve these pending cases partly due to criticism over the heavy cost of having thousands of unresolved asylum seekers in the country.
