The UN Human Rights Council to Hold a Special Session on Iran on November 24

The United Nations Human Rights Council will hold a special session on Iran on November 24th.

Today, the United Nations Human Rights Council announced that due to the worsening human rights situation in Iran, it will hold a special session in ten days on November 24th.

The request for this special session was submitted to the council by representatives of Iceland and Germany on Friday.

To hold a special session, 16 out of the 47 member countries must vote in favor.

As the nationwide protests in Iran approach their third month, the suppression of protesters, unlawful and widespread arrests, and the issuance of more death sentences continue, prompting various human rights organizations to issue warnings.
