The US and UK have imposed extensive sanctions on Iran’s drone and missile industries.
These sanctions are being announced amid growing concerns that Tehran’s unprecedented attack on Israel could lead to a wider conflict in the Middle East.
The US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control has sanctioned 16 individuals and two entities in Iran that produce the drone engines used in the April 14 attack on Israel.
Additionally, the UK has targeted several military organizations, individuals, and Iranian entities involved in Iran’s drone and ballistic missile industries with sanctions.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated in a release that they will continue to use their sanctioning powers to counter Iran with further actions in the coming days and weeks.
This action follows warnings earlier this week from US officials that they were preparing new sanctions in response to Iran’s activities in the region and to prevent future attacks.
