The United States calls for an inclusive and transparent political process to form a new government in Syria
The United States has announced its conditions for recognizing a new government in Syria, stating that any government replacing Bashar al-Assad’s regime must respect minority rights, prevent Syrian soil from becoming a base for terrorism, and destroy all of Bashar al-Assad’s chemical and biological weapons arsenals.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken also emphasized that other countries should refrain from any interference in Syria’s fate.
The White House seeks to pull Syria out of the orbit of Iran and Russia, who were the main supporters of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
