The United States has not invited the President of Ukraine to the NATO summit in June.
Diplomatic circles confidentially told the Italian news agency ANSA on Wednesday, May 14th, that the United States has refrained from inviting Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, to the NATO summit on June 24th in The Hague.
According to the same report, so far invitations have only been sent to Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.
According to ANSA’s source, almost all of America’s allies have shared their surprise over this decision with Washington.
This issue might be discussed at the informal meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Antalya, Turkey, as the planning for the Hague summit is on the agenda of this meeting.
At the NATO summit on the evening of June 24th, a dinner banquet is planned for the heads of states and governments, including guests.
The main meeting, which is dedicated to increasing military spending and the final approval of capabilities objectives in this area, will be held on Wednesday, June 25th.
The NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of heads of states, which was held in the past, is not currently on the agenda.
