The US imposes new sanctions on Iran as part of the maximum pressure campaign.
On Wednesday, May 20, the United States announced that as part of the campaign to revive maximum pressure against the Islamic Republic, in addition to individuals and entities related to the construction sector, 10 materials related to this sector have been identified and will be sanctioned.
The US State Department stated in a declaration that Iran’s construction sector is under the control of the Revolutionary Guards and has also identified 10 other strategic materials that are now subject to US sanctions.
The statement mentions that with these determinations, the US will have broader sanctioning powers to prevent Iran from acquiring strategic materials for the construction sector under the control of the Revolutionary Guards.
According to this statement, these 10 materials include austenitic nickel-chromium alloy, magnesium ingots, sodium perchlorate, tungsten-copper alloy, and certain aluminum sheets and tubes.
The US announced that anyone who knowingly sells, supplies, or transfers these materials, either directly or indirectly, to Iran or receives them from Iran will now be subject to mandatory sanctions.
