The US Senate unanimously passed a bill to ban the import of uranium from Russia.

In conjunction with the United States’ efforts to assist Ukraine in confronting Russia’s invasion of the country, the US Senate unanimously passed a bill to ban the import of uranium from Russia on Tuesday, May 1.

The US Senate passed this bill without any opposition.

Previously, in December of last year, the House of Representatives had passed this bill.

According to Reuters, imported uranium from Russia is used to supply fuel for nuclear power plants in the United States.

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the US banned oil imports from the country.
