Al Jazeera, quoting an American official, has reported that Donald Trump is prepared to reduce some of Tehran’s sanctions and allow Iran access to a portion of its blocked assets if progress is made in the Iranian nuclear issue. This report comes as American officials have emphasized that Washington is not in favor of granting economic concessions before reaching an agreement or making specific progress in nuclear negotiations. Mike Waltz, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, also recently stated that Tehran’s previous proposal was rejected because Iran wanted the sanctions lifted and blocked assets released before starting negotiations on the nuclear program.
