The US: Ukraine will eventually join NATO
The US Secretary of State said on Thursday that Ukraine will eventually join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
According to Secretary Antony Blinken, Ukraine has strong support from NATO member countries for joining.
Blinken said to reporters in Brussels after the NATO meeting that Ukraine will become a NATO member. Our goal at this summit is to help build a bridge for this membership.
NATO allies agreed at the 2023 summit in Lithuania that Ukraine could join NATO if specific conditions are met, but criticisms from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Baltic allies regarding NATO’s inability to achieve specific goals and timelines have been an obstacle to this matter.
Supporters of Ukraine are working on ways to demonstrate strong international support for Kyiv, to be announced at the upcoming NATO summit in Washington on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the alliance.
