The US asked its citizens to leave Iran immediately
The US State Department, citing the partial reopening of Iran’s airspace, requested its citizens to leave the country as soon as possible and outlined alternative exit routes.
On Wednesday, the US Department of State released an updated advisory urging American citizens to depart Iran at the earliest opportunity.
In this announcement, published by the US Virtual Embassy in Iran, reference is made to the partial reopening of airspace, and citizens are advised to contact airlines for flight information and follow local media news.
The department also stated that land exit from Iran through Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan is still possible, but it is recommended to avoid traveling to Afghanistan, Iraq, or the border areas between Iran and Pakistan for departure.
The warning further mentions that the Iranian government may prevent American citizens from leaving or demand exit fees. It is also advised that dual US-Iranian nationals use their Iranian passports to exit Iran.
