The Wall of the Former German Consulate in Tabriz Was Demolished Without Inquiry

The wall of the former German consulate in Tabriz was demolished without consultation.

The Deputy of Cultural Heritage of the East Azerbaijan Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization reported that the wall of the former German consulate in Tabriz was demolished without consulting this organization.

According to a report on Saturday from the public relations of the East Azerbaijan Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization, Vahid Novadad said that part of the wall of the former German consulate in Tabriz was demolished during the Nowruz holidays as part of a road expansion project for a street, despite the fact that this building is registered on Iran’s national heritage list. He stated that all registered buildings are communicated to municipalities and other institutions, and any action regarding these houses and buildings must be done with consultation from cultural heritage. He expressed that no consultation was taken from cultural heritage regarding this registered building, and the construction operations were carried out without coordination with the provincial cultural heritage organization.
