The world acknowledges Ali Daei, but we don’t make him the national team coach.
The Etemad newspaper wrote that the great legend of Iranian football, who was recently banned from leaving the country, appeared in Paris with his wife to spend another memorable night, a night full of beautiful events for Daei and emotional and prideful moments for our nation’s people.
But when we place all the honors, prideful moments, and greatness Ali Daei created for this country alongside the behaviors of some within the country, we become more astonished. For instance, recently, the discussion of selecting the national team’s head coach arose, and strangely, Daei’s name is not among the candidates for sitting on the national team’s bench.
The poor selectors of the national team’s coach should answer the people’s question: who loses from wasting Daei’s reputable brand? Is it Daei who needs the national team, even though his name isn’t even a candidate for sitting on its bench, or are the managers who want to benefit from sidelining the legend?
The peak of Daei’s popularity can be seen in how many are glad that he is not in the heart of our football with all its controversies, so he worries less.
