The Story of Mahsa Amini from the Perspective of an Eyewitness

A Twitter user who was taken to the Vozara Detention Center on September 13th along with Mahsa Amini by the morality police, narrated what they witnessed immediately after being released in a series of tweets.

Today we went to Darband, and on our way back, the morality police stopped us. They politely and calmly asked us to come over and fix our clothes, take our names and surnames, and check them before letting us go. In short, they forced us into a van, saying we had to wait for the check to come through. Unaware of everything, we went and sat in the van, and they took us to the detention center, telling us to call someone to bring clothes for us, sign a commitment, and leave. We were held up for about two hours, and they kept bringing in girls one after another. One of the girls felt unwell, and despite our requests for water, they ignored us.

After a few minutes, the girl lost consciousness, and despite their efforts, she did not come to. The paramedics at the center couldn’t do anything, so they called an ambulance. Unfortunately, by the time the ambulance arrived, the girl had passed away. Right before my eyes, she stopped breathing, her skin turned pale, and her pupils dilated. There was chaos, and everyone was screaming, shouting, and crying. We grabbed our phones and tried to leave, but they wouldn’t let us. Some of the girls started screaming and shouting, and the male officers began hitting them. One of them was kicking terribly.

They brought us back inside amidst the chaos and quickly made us sign commitments as we were. They searched every part of our phones to make sure we hadn’t filmed anything, and then they let us go. It was the worst experience of my life.
