They turned a weakness into a strength

Following the publication of articles about Douglas Emhoff, Kamala Harris’s husband, in the Daily Mail, a right-wing and sensational British publication, he quickly responded and officially admitted to having an extramarital affair during his separation from his first wife. Apparently, this affair was with his child’s teacher. While Republicans were preparing a wave of propaganda against Harris on this matter, Emhoff’s first wife also officially stated that their separation was due to multiple factors and that over time their relationship had transformed into mutual friendship and empathy. She considers herself, her ex-husband, and Kamala as members of one family. Significant changes occurred in Harris’s campaign, and well-known managers from the Obama era joined the campaign. The result of these changes is clear: a positive and swift reaction and turning a major weakness into a strength. Now, Harris and her husband are portrayed as a typical family, relatable to ordinary people who have experienced divorce and remarriage. The warm relationship between Emhoff’s children and Harris, who is their stepmother, also presents another positive image of her.
