This year's Chaharshanbe Suri resulted in at least 17 deaths and 500 injuries, according to the Ministry of Health

This year’s Chaharshanbe Suri had at least 17 deaths and 500 injuries according to the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health of the Islamic Republic announced that the number of fatalities from Chaharshanbe Suri incidents from the beginning of Esfand until Tuesday, March 14th, was 17 people.

Saeed Karimi, Deputy Minister of Treatment at the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, also mentioned that 501 people were injured during these incidents, adding that 88 of the injured have been hospitalized.

This health official identified the eye as the most vulnerable organ and announced that so far 133 people have suffered eye injuries.

The Deputy Minister of Treatment at the Ministry of Health listed eye injuries, limb amputations, hand injuries, and burns as the injuries sustained by individuals during the Chaharshanbe Suri incidents. Jafar Miadfar, the head of the National Emergency Organization, also announced that since the beginning of Esfand, there have been 60 cases of amputation and 186 cases of burns.
