Threats to Oil and Gas Pipelines Now Endanger Global Internet Connections

Their danger to oil and gas pipelines now threatens the world’s internet connections

While explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines and subsequent events, especially Russia’s lack of clarity in accepting its role in these explosions, have significantly increased concerns about the status and security of maritime oil and gas pipelines, a serious alarm has now been sounded for internet and telecommunications connections.

International internet and telecommunications connections rely on undersea communication lines, and as Russia expands its threatening activities in European waters and its ships suspiciously extend their threats up to Alaska, Germany and Norway have officially sounded the alarm about serious threats to telecommunications connections and have called for serious planning by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to protect undersea connections.

Norway’s foreign minister has expressed deep concern about this and warned that energy and telecommunications connection lines are the lifelines of the modern economy, which have been endangered by recent developments caused by the Russians.
