Timber smugglers injured the officers of the Gilan Natural Resources Protection Unit

Mirhamed Akhtari, the Director General of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Gilan, stated in an interview with Rokna

These individuals had no legal permission to cut down trees. The driver and passenger of this cargo vehicle got into a scuffle with two protection unit officers, injuring them in the eye and cheek area with punches and kicks.

With the intervention of the Shalma Shafteh police station officers, the approximately 35-year-old driver of the Nissan pickup was arrested, while the other smuggler fled into the forest after the altercation, and police efforts to capture him are ongoing.

The confiscated timber was transferred to the premises of the Natural Resources Department of Shaft County.
