Truck drivers in various cities of Iran went on strike
Truck drivers in dozens of Iranian cities, including Yazd, Hamedan, Sanandaj, Dorud, Fasa, Tehran, and Sirjan, joined a nationwide strike on Saturday, May 24th, halting their activities.
These protests started following a call from the Truck Drivers’ Union and in response to economic pressures, insufficient fuel quotas, multiple increases in insurance premiums, high road tariffs, and government indifference.
In the images released from these protests, drivers speak with anger and sorrow about the lack of response to their demands.
One of them, referring to the additional pressures, says, ‘How many lives do we have? We are no longer living; we are burning.’
