The Trump administration has halted the shipment of medicines to developing countries.
The Trump administration has stopped sending essential medicines for treating AIDS, HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, as well as medical supplies for infants to countries supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
This decision was announced through an official memo obtained by Reuters, instructing contractors and partners of the United States Agency for International Development to immediately cease their activities. This action is part of a broader suspension of U.S. aid programs that has been implemented since the start of Trump’s presidency on January 20, aimed at reviewing these projects.
This order has also been sent to Chemonics, one of the largest contractors of the United States Agency for International Development, responsible for supplying medicines worldwide. The suspension order includes the shipment of medicines for AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, contraceptives, and essential drugs for mothers and children.
