The Trump administration has halted the shipment of medicine to developing countries.
The Trump administration has stopped the shipment of medicines needed for the treatment of AIDS, HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, as well as medical supplies for infants in countries supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
This decision was announced through an official memo obtained by Reuters. Contractors and partners of the United States Agency for International Development have been instructed to immediately halt their activities. This action is part of a broader suspension of U.S. aid programs that has been enforced since the start of Trump’s presidency on January 20, aimed at reviewing these projects.
This order has also been sent to Chemonics, one of the largest contractors of the United States Agency for International Development, responsible for supplying medicine worldwide. The halt includes the shipment of AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis medicines, contraceptives, as well as medicines needed for mothers and children.
