Trump announces a $3 billion investment to strengthen the U.S. defense industry’s supply chain

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced that his administration will invest $3 billion in projects related to critical minerals and batteries, an initiative aimed at boosting domestic production and strengthening the defense industry’s supply chain.

In a meeting with over 200 mining industry executives and investors, Trump stated that America must reclaim its position as the world’s mineral superpower and that the raw materials needed for industries, from advanced weaponry to automobiles, should be extracted and processed within the country.

Reuters has reported that the five-month war with Iran and the extensive use of guided missiles and air defense interceptors have heightened concerns about weapon stockpiles and the limitations of the U.S. supply chain.

Rare earth elements, tungsten, germanium, and scandium are among the materials needed for the production of guided missiles, fighter jets, armored vehicles, and other advanced military systems.
