U.S. President Donald Trump appointed Andrew Puzder, the former CEO of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s fast-food restaurants, as the U.S. ambassador to the European Union on Wednesday.
Mr. Puzder was previously selected for the position of Secretary of Labor during Donald Trump’s first presidential term, but he was forced to withdraw before officially taking office.
Donald Trump announced Andrew Puzder’s appointment as the U.S. ambassador to the European Union for the first time on his social media platform, Truth, where he wrote that Andy is a lawyer, businessman, economic analyst, and bestselling author.
The U.S. President further wrote that Mr. Puzder was appointed CEO of CKE, the parent company of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, in 2000. During his 17-year tenure, he rescued the company from serious financial crises and ensured its survival.
