Trump issued an invoice for Hormuz, countries of the world must repay America’s costs
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced that countries benefiting from the transit of oil and other shipments through the Strait of Hormuz should reimburse the costs of America’s actions to secure this waterway after the war ends. Trump said oil is now passing through the Strait of Hormuz and claimed that the U.S. is undertaking these actions more for the benefit of other countries than for its own interests. He had previously stated that regional countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, should pay part of the cost of America’s protection of the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, Trump once again predicted that with the end of military conflict with Iran, oil prices would fall like a rock and claimed that this war would not last long. The U.S. President also attributed the rise in domestic prices to the previous government and claimed that apart from oil, whose price increase he considers temporary, other prices in the U.S. are decreasing. However, the global oil market remains heavily influenced by the war and the restrictions on transit through the Strait of Hormuz, with the price of Brent oil recently exceeding $100 per barrel.
