Trump was defeated by Nikki Haley in the U.S. capital
Nikki Haley, the only remaining rival of Donald Trump in the Republican primary elections, managed to win the party vote in Washington D.C., the capital of the United States, and for the first time defeated Donald Trump.
However, the gap in votes between the two is so large that Mr. Trump’s final victory in the race for the Republican party nomination seems certain.
On Sunday, Republicans in the U.S. capital participated in their party elections, and ultimately Nikki Haley was able to win Washington D.C. with 63% of the votes compared to Donald Trump’s 33%, securing all 19 electoral delegates of this city and area.
With the votes from the capital, Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, now has 43 electoral delegates, which seems very insignificant compared to the 247 electoral delegates Mr. Trump has secured so far.
